Alestan - A new bassist for an up and coming band named Void of Color. Adriel - A professor at the local university. We have already started this thread separately, so we will just be picking up where we left off! Here’s the spark notes: Al had his first show, Adriel was there in professor attire cause a student tried to keep him late (-whacks student with fly swatter-), he took notice to Al, Al took notice to him, both didn’t notice this but they both internally went awooga. Adriel had to go out back for a smoke but boy howdy, Al is back there too, because stage fright is a bitch and he also needed a smoke but blud forgot his lighter/matches. He noticed Adriel had a lighter, asked him for a flame and it’s gone from there. They’re currently on date number two, the night before Al’s second show of the tour.

Alestan can’t help but chuckle a little at the answer that the students scores aren’t the greatest. He never really had that issue in school. Except for one subject in particular that always evaded his understanding. Chemistry. It was never a strong suit. He could never make sense of all the damn elements, their connections, their reactions, it was just too much. If things were able to be just magically manipulated or even made, he’d sooner take that route. With the following question from Adriel about if the bassist likes haunted houses, he shuffles. Truthfully, the answer is no, but… he doesn’t want to pass up too many experiences with the other man yet. He’s been doing so well so far stepping out of his comfort zone because he intrigues the raven haired man. “They are not something I have gone to before, really.” Totally contrary to how he presents himself to where one would think he goes to those kinds of things all the time, Al is obviously holding back some level of reluctance. “But I am not against it.” Shit.

"Well, sounds like a date, then~" he says, grinning. "As for the grades...they're understanding the material, but for the love of everything, they do not listen to formatting and citation instructions for shit." He shakes his head again, pinching the bridge of his nose for a moment. He decides then and there that he's done for the day, putting the papers away and shutting the computer down. "If I look at another one of these papers, I think I may very well go insane," he says, shaking his head and standing. He grabs his blazer from the jacket stand, tossing it over his arm and grabbing his keys. "Shall we head for ramen?~"

“Sounds rather typical.” Al sighs. “I wonder what is distracting them. They should at least take notes.” He chuckles. The distraction is obvious, but he doesn’t say it, of course. Besides, knowing the students rather try to go after Adriel on probably a daily or at least weekly basis, it wouldn’t be best to bring that up, really. At least, not in this context. Once the other shuts everything down and stands, Alestan follows suit, rising from the armchair opposite the desk and slipping his phone in his pocket as he meets him by the door. “Yes, please.” He answers, his tone insinuating there’s a good bit of excitement about the incoming food. He’s been craving it for quite some time but he never really left his condo to try it. Usually, he’ll just go to the corner store nearby later in the day when it’s not so busy and pick up something there that’s already premade or get things to make an easy, relatively healthy meal. He’s not unhealthy, by any means, nor is he lazy. He just doesn’t want to be out alone a lot.

He grins as he leads Al out of the building, pausing to make sure his office is locked behind him. The vehicle that comes into view is different than the one he'd been driving the night before, a Bentley instead of a Maserati. He once again opens the passenger door for the bassist, smiling softly. "I figured the sports cars would be a bit of an overkill today~" He smirks a bit at the thought, obviously amused at the mental image of Al's potential reaction to his other cars.

Following close by the elf's side, Al remains in a comfortable silence unless spoken to, seemingly neutral unless he's looking at Adriel. In taking in his face and other features, his expression is lighter. Eyes softer. His movements even take on a slower, more sultry nature, making clear his growing comfort. Approaching the car, he's both surprised and not. Still, that's not a car just anyone would have. Like how not just anyone would have the balls to ask Alestan out, given his somewhat unapproachable façade at times. But here they are. "Overkill..." Al echoes with a friendly scoff, his tone teasing as emeralds flick to look up at Adriel, "what next, a Ferrari?" Confident enough to joke, now, it seems. Offering a small thank you, he slips inside the car, situating himself comfortably.

He chuckles at that, shutting Al's door once he's situated and slipping into the driver's seat. "Oh, my other car is crazier than a Ferrari. I won't spoil the surprise...but if you ever come over to mine, you'll see it~" His tone is playful, a giant grin on his face. He's enjoying himself, and Al's company quite a lot. It doesn't take long for them to arrive at the ramen shop, Adriel parking the car once more. He hops out and opens Al's door for him, offering his hand. Ever the gentleman, this one.

Crazier than a Ferarri? Al cannot think of many things that he knows of, personally, that could be wilder than that. Is it some old timey car that no one would actually expect the other man to have? No clue. But the comment does get a small chuckle out of the bassist. Once they arrive, he's a little taken aback by the hand being offered to him. Not in a bad way, no, but he's just... never had anyone do that for him before. It only adds another tally to the interest list in favor of Adriel. Plus, the prospect of being able to touch him is rather invigorating, even if it's such a little thing. He slips his hand in Adriel's, stepping out with the assistance and just so happening to rise rather close to the elf. Closer than they were even when he had leaned over the metal divider in the back of the venue for the lighter the night of his first show. Their chests only hold enough space between them for a mere breath of air. Its easy to catch a smell of something slightly smoky from him, but it's not from a cigarette or anything of that ilk. It's got a more mellow, earthy tint to it. Candle wax. Paired with the more dry smell of parchment and a pleasant, musky scent oil that he had to have applied before he left. Uttering a soft thank you, he steps away, allowing his hand to linger in Adriel's for a moment. "This one is on me." He says, finally letting his touch slide from the other mans hold, heading towards the door.

"As you wish," he says, smiling as he follows Al inside. Immediately, his senses are awash with the sights and smells of the shop, his stomach growling loudly. He can't help but flush slightly from embarrassment, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly as the pair are led to a booth. "I, uh...didn't really get a chance to eat lunch today, heh...I may be a little hungry at the moment." His cheeks are still flushed as he looks over the menu, the tiniest frown of concentration creasing his brow. "Not sure if I want the tonkotsu ramen, or the miso ramen..."

Al hums at the comment of how the other hasn't had lunch. "Admittedly, nor have I." Bad habit. He gets so absorbed in whatever else he's doing that he often forgets to eat. This leads to him ghosting about his own condo at ungodly hours of the night at times in search of food. Sometimes he even goes to the corner store that's open 24/7. He's grown familiar with the night staff there. Sitting down and crossing his legs comfortably, he only needs to look at the menu once over before he knows what he wants. "What about spicy miso?" He flicks his eyes up to look at Adriel as he answers the question. "That is a favorite of mine, and what I am getting."

"Ooo, spicy miso sounds good, too," he says, grinning. He sets his menu down and leans forward a bit, resting his chin on his hand. "Which one do you think I should get?~" He knows he's being a little shit, the grin on his face being more than evident of that particular fact. "Though, I may just get that spicy miso...I'm good at handling spicy things~"

"You can also just add spice to any of them, if you like." He points to the bottle of chili oil off to the side. "You can adjust it however you like..." He leans forwards as well, both arms horizontal on the table. "Challenge yourself, even..." He looks into one of Adriels eyes. Then flicks down to his lips, staying paused there for a second before rising up to meet the opposite eye. "Though, it is whatever you want, of course."

Oh, Al's playing a downright dangerous game, testing his patience like this. He manages to keep himself in check, though barely, and not without a lingering glance at the bassist's lips before answering. "Mmm, then I think I'll do the tonkatsu, and add my own spice to it. I do enjoy a good *challenge*." His voice drops to a low purr, eyes once more trailing over Al's features, as if he's committing every detail to memory.

Good to know. Al sits back up straight, reaching in his pocket to fetch a hair tie, same as last time. He follows the same process, but this time, glances between the table and Adriel's face as he fumbles with his hair to put it up. He ought to just cut it at some point but, not right now. He likes it like this. Also what it seems to do to the other man. He'll make bank off that for as long as possible. "Alright, then..." He starts, his voice also a low purr as he pulls the ponytail taut with a soft exhale that was absolutely on purpose this time. "Prove it." Its not long after the server comes over to take their orders. Al gives his, sitting sideways in his chair with his arm resting on its back, but attention still on the half-elf.

He can't help the smirk that comes over his face as he watches Al put his hair up, even more so at his words and the exhale. He quickly gave his order to the waiter as well, unable to keep his eyes off of Al for more than a few seconds at a time. God, this was *fun*, seeing how much they could tease each other. He had a feeling it would culminate in a very pleasurable outcome for the both of them, when Al's patience finally snaps. And he is definitely looking forward to that day, whether it's in a few days time, or a few weeks.

It's only their second date, but it feels like they've managed to get to a point where it feels like they've known one another longer. Is this all it takes? Just a solid amount of respect, heavy gazes and the prospect Adriel isn't who he seems he'd be? Part of Al's mind still nags him, insulting him for being naive. There's still no solid promise that the ground Alestan is stepping on now isn't hollow. But it has been stable so far. He can sense there is a path ahead of them, albeit an unclear one. Either way, the bassist feels more and more bold each day, taking from walking to running across the bridge through the fog. He wants to continue getting to know his date. Clear the fog bit by bit. No one said it has to be linear. "So, have you lived here all along? Travel much at all?"

"I've traveled around a bit...spent the first few years of my life in California, until my father decided to send me to a boarding school in England when I was 13. I thought it was cool, until I realized he just wanted me away and out of the picture so he could focus on my brother," he says, shaking his head. "After I graduated, I threw myself into university...wound up with a master's in political science, and had it in my head that I wanted to teach. I wasn't ready to actually settle in somewhere just yet though, so I spent about...ten ish years drifting around the globe, I think? I figured that if my father was going to ignore me during summer holidays, the least he could do was fund my travel expenses~" He takes a sip of his drink then, chuckling softly. "I got offered the position at the university ten years ago and decided to take it, which is when I got my penthouse. Figured it'd be wise to get a place with security in case someone decided to get any ideas of trying to stalk me. Certainly wouldn't be the first time."

Seems like there will be no father meeting in this case, if they do happen to make anything official. Doesn't seem it would be a great loss, based upon all the given information. The bassist is glas to hear the other man found such a good spot for himself. Even better he has the facilities and is using them in a just form. He's made his own way, and that's highly admirable. As for the stalking bit, that is certainly a little scary. Maybe more than a little. "The students?" He asks. It would not be surprising if it is them. They don't leave Adriel alone at the university, so why would it stop them from doing so outside of it?

"No, actually. They usually don't bother me off campus...but then again, I don't tend to frequent the bars they like to flock to," he says, another chuckle escaping him. He quickly continues, not wanting to freak the poor man out with a detail like that without further explanation. "Don't worry, stalking isn't an issue I've had to deal with in years. The stalker was a one off instance, and the guy's dead now. Young and dumb fling in my early twenties with a man who was already in his forties, he got obsessed off a one night stand. Fast forward thirty years, and I find out he died from a heart attack about five years back." His expression softens out into a gentle smile as he looks Al over once more, his eyes lingering on his lips. "How about you? Have you been in the area long?"

Good god. So it isn't just the students. He feels bad for Adriel, having to have delt with that. Al hasn't put much thought to if he, too, could be subjected to such a thing, but as a band member, perhaps it is something he should be more aware of. "That is... admittedly terrifying." He says. "I have not thought about the possibility of that before for myself, but, I suppose it is best to be aware of it, at least." He exhales, relaxing back closer to normal when he's asked about how long he's been here. "I moved here about a year ago. Came out after trying the whole college thing and it not really working for me." Which is ironic, given how much he likes to learn things. Likely it is just due to his tendency to learn better on his own than under the constant pressure of performance for grades. It really took away the joy of it. "So, not long." The server emerges with their bowls, setting them down before them, checking in then returning ti their duties. Alestan sighs in relief. "Ah, gods that smells amazing." Pulling apart his chopsticks, he glances back up to Adriel. "Well, go on then." He gestures to his bowl. "I want to see how well you do." He smirks.

He smirks and pulls his chopsticks apart as well, mixing the ramen for a moment before getting a decent sized bite. The spice explodes over his tongue, and he lets out a small inadvertent moan of pleasure, nodding appreciatively. "Oh, that's good. Could do with a bit more spice, though," he says, grabbing the chili oil and adding it in small amounts, taste testing as he goes. There's a fair bit of chili oil added by the time he's satisfied, digging in with a delighted hum. "Mmm, that's about perfect. You wanna taste it?"

Damn, first the burger, now this. He must either simply really like food, or he's doing it on purpose. Maybe both. It's honestly amusing and the bassist can't help but smile lightly at it with a cocked eyebrow. He wants to say something risque about it, but he holds him self back this time. "More spice?" He says. "Hmm." At least the other is testing as he goes. Wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly good bowl of ramen to prove a point... plus, the fact he's being so careful with it makes Alestan wonder. What else does that translate to? His heart flutters at the thought and he finds himself providing a softer gaze to Adriel. Once he's asked if he wants to try some, he blinks. Sharing already? Well, how can he say no? "Sure." He replies, pulling Adriel's bowl closer. In turn, he slides his own towards the half-elf, showing he may try some of his as well. Then, he tries some of the soup. It definitely is delightfully bitey with a pleasant burn. Clears him right up. He exhales a comforted breath. "That is nice." He breathes, practically melting right there in his seat. His eyes haven't lost their softness. It's hanging on quite a bit longer than before. He hopes it stays that way. He likes how it feels.

Another small moan almost escapes when he tries Al's ramen, though he manages to catch himself and cuts it short, his cheeks and ears flaring bright red. Damn inadvertent reactions. "That's fantastic," he says quickly, still blushing. The heat from the spice is nice, a good distraction from the fact that he suddenly realized that he moaned because of the food. Twice. In public. While on his second date with an absolutely gorgeous man who he's genuinely interested in. "Sorry, I, uh...I promise the noises are not intentional, I just have that reaction to really good food." Fuck, he hopes that's enough to keep Al from getting weirded out and deciding that he doesn't want to go on any more dates with him-

Al giggles a little. "Aahh, I see." He teases, a small smile still on his face. "Only that?" If he wasn't being dangerous before with his body language, now he's gone and started to do it with words, too. Shit. He just told himself to hold back. Too late now. Plus, it honestly doesn't seem to bother him. Not at this point. Al finishes one of his bites before changing the subject. As if that'll save him now. "This uhm, haunted house we are going to, does it have a theme?"

He can't help but smirk at Al's reply, even though his ears are still red enough to rival the apples on his kitchen counter. He takes another bite of his own food before answering, the resounding growl of his stomach reminding him why they were at the restaurant in the first place. "Mmm, yeah, it does. It's built up in an old dredging boat, one of the ones that they used to make the river deep enough for shipping freight. I've been through a few times, it's pretty good. Plus they try and switch it up a bit every year, build on the lore, so to speak." He pauses for a moment then, concern coloring his features. "If you're not okay with being on a boat, there's another haunt we can go to. That one's a schoolhouse."

Oh. Great. A boat. Or a school house. Those are… both quite an option. He slurps on his noodles as he thinks. The boat is kind of interesting and is bound to have, what, scary mermaids and whatnot? The schoolhouse seems a bit predictable. He hates how he’s being so analytical about it, but he’s also considering which one might be somewhat of a challenge. Trying to impress someone? Maybe. “The boat, then, I suppose.” That came out a little more reluctant than he’d have liked. “Plus, you are in a university setting every day. Perhaps a change of scenery would be nice?” A slight joke. But not really. The real horror is in that university at times, it seems, with how the students can be.

He can't help but note the hint of reluctance in Al's voice, his gaze softening a bit. "A change of scenery would be nice...but also, if you're not keen on the idea of going to a haunted house, we can find something else to do. It's not like I'm married to the idea or anything." A chuckle leaves him then, and he's back to playful teasing within a moment. "If it's nerves, don't worry. I'm not getting the VIP tickets, just the regular ones, so the actors won't be allowed to touch us. And, even if someone were to try and pull something, I'll be there to protect you ~" He winks playfully before digging into his ramen again, the bowl already half gone.

He figured there would not be any special aspects such as the actors being able to touch them. He wouldn’t want that anyways. He’d prefer only one specific set of hands be on him, anyways. “Oh, my hero.” He says with joking sarcasm, tilting his head a little with a seemingly unamused look. He’s a little over halfway done with his own bowl, taking a few more bites before continuing. “I am still fine with the idea. I am fascinated with certain aspects of it.” Which is probably a bit stereotypical for him, but it’s true. At least in some ways. Some things stick out more than others, of course. “You say they change themes up a little often. You go a lot, then?”

Oh, that's good that he's still on board with going to the haunt. "I usually try and go through at least once a year, it's fun to see what they do with the place, and what changes from year to year." He hums as he pauses for a moment, letting the food settle in his stomach a bit. There was no need to inhale it. "Not to mention, the makeup artists are insanely talented...Hollywood quality on most of the actors, it's kind of wild. Half the time I go because I wanna see the makeup looks. I don't know how they manage to do them, considering I can barely manage to do my own eyeliner half the time, but it's pretty fucking impressive."

“I like the concept parts of it. The stories.” If they’re easy to tell what they even are in the first place, of course. Some things do not do too well in revising good insight to just what it is that’s happening. Though, it’s also obvious that is not always effective in terms of storytelling. It’s intricacies are fascinating. “And yes, the makeup does a lot for it, I am certain. As it does for many things beyond that, too.” Finishing off a bit more of his ramen, he thinks for a moment. “You cannot do your own eyeliner…?” He’s not making fun of the other by any means, he just finds it… cute. “I can help with that if you like.”

He blushes at the suggestion, nodding. "Yeah, I have trouble doing actual eyeliner. I'm fine with eyeshadow and an angled brush, but for some reason I struggle with the pencil. Maybe I just have a bad pencil?" It was a cheap drugstore brand, and definitely older than it should have been. He'd bought it on a whim over a decade ago and then forgotten about it till recently. "I definitely wouldn't mind some help with it, though. Especially if you're the one helping me~"

"Liquid eyeliner is what I use. Then you have to set it with the eyeshadow." He explains, finishing up the last of his food. "I'll show you some time soon." Pulling his hair out of his ponytail, he rolls the elastic band over his wrist. "Ready whenever you are." Once they are both finished, Al takes care of what needs to be done and they're back on the road. It's becoming more and more familiar of a routine they've got going here. As they pull up to the haunted house location, or, haunted boat, rather, he looks up at it through the window. It's an actual boat, just like it was described. He's never been on one before, so there's a tinge of excitement where that is concerned. The circumstances, though, that is... a different feeling fluttering in his gut.

He parks the car with a grin, hopping out and opening Al's door eagerly. He's obviously excited about bringing the bassist here, eyes alight with a youthful excitement that definitely makes him seem younger than he actually is. "You ready?" he asks once he's out of the car, the door shut and locked. The music is already playing over loudspeakers, ominous chords drifting over the gathered crowd as Adriel holds his hand out for Al.

Adriel's excitement is cute as well, eliciting a soft gaze from Alestan in return, paired with a smile. They way he is looking at him is certainly more than friendly, a hint of something more within him shining in his eyes. Looking back to the boat again, he blinks, then shifts his look to meet the elf's offered hand. Another opportunity to have contact with him that he's actually eager to take. "Ready as I can be, I suppose." He says through a light, airy laugh, slipping his hand in Adriel's. Don't let go.

He intertwines their fingers as he leads Al towards the ticket booth, grinning with excitement. His heart is pounding, but it's not because of any nerves - it's because of the feeling of Al's hand resting snugly within his own, and the fact that he accepted the offer of hand holding. Call him old fashioned, but damn if it didn't make him feel like his stomach had been turned into a horde of butterflies. He gives his name at the window, the woman on the other side handing him two tickets with a smile before directing them down the fast pass line, allowing the pair to bypass the rather massive line buildup that was already happening. It would seem this was a very popular haunt with the locals. "Holy shit, I'm so excited right now," he says, giggling a bit. He feels like a damn kid in a candy store, and he still hasn't let go of Al's hand. "How are you holding up?"

Al keeps close, shoulders brushing against each other, lightly. He doesn't know why he's surprised at the fact they're bypassing the line, having gone the fast pass route instead. On the bright side, means he doesn't have to wait in line thinking about how nervous he is. Though, now it's felt all at once and hes gripping Adriel's hand a bit tighter without even realizing it as he stares at the entry. Damn, these things are always kind of claustrophobic. Not that hes worried about that aspect, really. There are worse things. The elf's voice brings his attention back over. "Hmm? Oh. I am fine." Liar. He's obviously mentally analyzing things. It probably will not take long to go through it anyways. Plus, there's other people in front of and behind them, so if anything happens in front of them, Al can pinpoint where to expect anything and what it might be. Also, considering hes used to being in dark environments, he might even have an advantage? Who is he kidding. Not wanting to be a buzzkill, he does his best to stay optimistic. "Looks charming." Which isn't a lie. For someone who watches horror movies, it's ironic hes apprehensive about such a thing. But there's a difference between digital and physical.

He can tell Al's nervous, the tightening of his grip not going unnoticed. He chooses not to call it out, however, just rubbing his thumb against Al's hand soothingly instead. "It takes about 30 minutes to get through, in total...so it shouldn't be too long." Fucking hell, he's almost certain that if he doesn't at least kiss the back of Al's hand at some point tonight, he's gonna be kicking himself when he gets home. Thankfully, he's not left to dwell on that thought long, the pair being ushered inside with the next group. It's about the same as what he remembers from the previous years; the museum track being the same as always, the elevator box shaking as usual, zombies and vampires littering the first floor of the ship and spinning a narrative of the Captain, his daughter Anna, and the Lady in Red. The bright white of his shirt had made him stick out like a sore thumb under the backlight of the supersoldier section, but that was to be expected. It just meant that the actor in the scene came up to block his path, allowing Al to blend into the shadows next to him. "You still holding up okay?" he asks softly once they're halfway up the wheel well to the second floor and able to pause for a moment, the rest of their group getting detained by the previous scene's actors.

Thirty minutes. Wow. That is definitely longer than Alestan had initially guessed. Though, it is a larger scare zone than the ones at theme parks and whatnot. Somewhat, anyhow. Even those Al hasn't really bothered to go in, let alone having gone to a theme park at all in quite some time. He can't remember when he last went to one, if he's being honest. The comfort of Adriel's thumb on his hand kickstarts more butterflies in his gut, adding to the ones he already has as it becomes their turn to go through. The sun is traded for darkness and artificial lights, one of which ignites the other man's shirt with an almost purplish glow, simply highlighting the outline of where it dips on his chest. If he didn't stand out before, he certainly does now. But even before, it would be hard not to notice such a thing. Al uses the darkness to his advantage where he can to really scan him. Even the tattoo on Adriel's neck seems to stand out a lot more in certain glows. Alright. He could get used to doing this. Surprisingly, the bassist doesn't do too bad at all. A few of the jumps get him and he jolts a bit, one of which actually causes him to back up into the elf's front, realizing a few seconds later where he was and pulling himself off to return to his side before he makes it awkward. Al might have gotten a bit too cocky just before that, leaving him wide open. By the time they get to the checkpoint, he's actually feeling pretty good about himself.
